Argentina in 2 steps (soon to be 3)

As mentionned on our home page we entered Argentina a first time :

From Chile we entered Argentina in the top north of the country, north of Susques, crossed Pumamarca and Tilcara to stop for a few days in Humahuaca. It was nice to rest there a few days, especially with Adrien and Mathilde (Matt's friend and his sister)... have daily HOT showers and sleep in a real bed.

Then we drove south to Salta. We enjoyed a day horse back riding in the country side... and a giant assado afterwards ! Not sure which one we prefered !

Stop in Cafayate, very cute town with some of the best Alfojores I ever ate ! If you go there look for the shop named Calchaquitos.

After a few days driving a a few nights sleeping in the middle a nowhere in the pampa (off the road), soon after Mendoza, we had to cross again to Chile... and unfortunatly, on a very well paved road, a stone (much bigger than gravel) hit our winshield... the day we had repaired our exhaust pipe ! Luckily we have plenty of duct tape !

Please report to the Chile page if you want our adventure in chronological order.

So... after Chile we entered Argentina a second time near Bariloche:

I did not know Bariloche was so famous for its chocolates... now I know and so do my pimples. Bariloche is a lovely town, ski station like but even crowded in summer.

From there we drove directly (after a night in the middle of nowhere) to El Calafate. This lovely touristy town gives acces to the famous glaciar Perito Mereno. There is no words to decribe this natural monument.

You can hear the Glaciar cracking it is quite a sensation !
We even went for a steep 5 jours hike to admire it ! (now we are happy to sit in our Cherokee!)...

So you know the story... we drove agin south, slept in the middle of nowhere before leaving once again Argentina to cross to Chile.

But in a few more miles we will be back in Argentina to see the end of the world !
